NEWS CENTER - According to the data compiled by Rojnews from media reports, 21 women were murdered in the Federated Kurdistan Region in the first 8 months of 2025, while 17 women died suspiciously. 

 

It was reminded that 39 femicides or suspicious deaths occurred in the region last year, while official statistics on femicides have not been made public since 2019. 

 

Rojnews emphasised that the protection of murderers, lack of enforcement of the law and structural inadequacies in the justice system play an important role in the increase in femicides, and therefore, femicides often go unpunished.
