76-year-old ill prisoner's health deteriorating 2025-05-18 12:53:49 ISTANBUL – Hatice Yıldız was arrested for sending money to her imprisoned daughter and ward mate. Ferhat Yıldız said his mother’s health deteriorating and demanded release of ill prisoners.   Hatice Yıldız, 76, was sentenced to 4 years and 2 months in prison for "financing terror organization" for sending money to her imprisoned daughter and her daughter's wardmate. She was arrested on 23 March 2024 after her sentence was approved and she was taken to Bakırköy Women's Closed Prison.    Hatice Yıldız has various diseases such as dementia, high blood pressure, osteoporosis, herniated disc, curvature of the spine, stomach disorder and visual impairment. Despite her health issues Forensic Medicine Institution (ATK) gave "she can stay in prison" report to Hatice Yıldız.      Hatice Yıldız's son Ferhat Yıldız stated that his mother's health problems are getting worse and said, "My mother has an eye problem in addition to her existing illnesses. She was taken to the hospital in prison and they told her that she needed urgent surgery soon. She cannot undergo surgery because she is in prison right now."   'RELEASE ILL PRISONERS'   Stating that his mother’s health condition deteriorated in prison and that she was constantly hospitalised, Yıldız drew attention to the process initiated under the leadership of Kurdish People’s Leader Abdullah Öcalan and said, “We hope that social peace and reconciliation will benefit all peoples in Turkey. With this process, ill prisoners must be released first.”
