Warisha Moradi still denied access to medical treatment 2025-05-08 14:35:48   NEWS CENTER - Warisha Moradi, a Kurdish political prisoner and women's rights advocate at imminent risk of execution, is still denied access to medical treatment by Iranian authorities although she suffers from lumbar and cervical disc disease.    Although a specialist strongly recommended an urgent surgery for her five months ago, the authorities of Evin prison have refused to transfer her to a hospital, according to the Hengaw Organization for Human Rights.    Warisha Moradi was also deprived of medical care for several months, having suffered from digestive problems due to a 20-day hunger strike. After pressure from international organizations, she was transferred to a hospital outside the prison about two months ago and received treatment for her digestive problems.    On August 1, 2023, Warisha Moradi was violently arrested by Ministry of Intelligence agents while traveling into Sanandaj. On April 9, 2024, she was indicted for charges including “membership in opposition groups” and “armed rebellion against the state” (baghi). In November 2024, she was sentenced to death for “armed rebellion against the state” (baghi).
